TO SPREAD AWARENESS OF VINCENT PERSICHETTI IN ITALY - THE PERSON, HIS MUSIC AND HIS WORKS.  

The principal goal of this association is to spread public awareness of Vincent Persichetti, an Italian-American composer, teacher and theorist, not well-known by the public at large.

To achieve this objective we will research Vincent Persichetti and hold concerts and meetings dwelling on his works and also on works by his students and other contemporary musicians and artists.

In addition, those who become members can review the association’s entire Persichetti collection (scores, CDs, books) and check what they would like out.

Concert venues rarely feature twentieth century music. This sort of music is relatively unknown, even to musicians. During our research on Vincent Persichetti, we became spellbound by the beauty and harmony these little-used scores personify.

As a music association we would like to acquaint the public with the past century’s music. Moreover, as was said, Vincent Persichetti taught many contemporary composers; as a result, there is a connection between his works and those of many other famous names in the music world.

We intend to collaborate with the Falconara Marittima and Torricella Peligna town administrations, and with associations, businesses and individuals in both towns. We would like to see the association become a real presence in these communities, to encourage members to participate actively and to get townspeople to participate in our events.

Thanks to the association’s network of contacts, we can find musicians to perform in the role of accompaniment or as the focal point of an event, e.g., concert. The association will act as intermediary between musicians and organizers.

In Falconara Marittima we plan on having activities all year long, and in Torricella Peligna, primarily in the summertime. With the collaboration of our members and other associations, we will not only put on concerts and music lectures, but also events dealing with figurative art and literature through exhibits, poetry readings and book presentations.

We want to give our members the opportunity to develop their own ideas, to actively participate in all programs and the organization of events, thereby enriching the association’s breadth.
